Squadron 42 - Eugene Morrow
Eugene Morrow is a character I created for Squadron 42.
This character’s outfit was was simulated in Marvelous and polished in Zbrush. Poly modeling in Maya, Texturing in Photoshop and Substance. Renders and texture bakes were done in Marmoset.
The head is a scan of an actor. The scan geometry and maps were provided by a third party vendor. The assets we got were not quite good enough to be final.
My work on the head was to look dev and finish it. This involved polishing the sculpt by redoing the pores, reworking the eye area and changing facial features to make it more appealing. I made the eyeball and the structures around it. I also polished the textures quite a bit, including re-projecting from photo source.
There was also major work that I did on the hair. Morrow’s hair was a mixture of two hair styles. One that I created and one that my friend Tyler Young created.
The hair was done with hair cards and groomed with our in house hair tool. The facial hair, lashes and brows are geometry from XGen.
This characters was based on a concept illustration by Micheal Wakeley and done in the winter of 2020.
