James Ku - CG Character Artist

I am a character artist based in Los Angeles. I am currently working at Cloud Imperium Games as a Senior Character Artist - onsite contractor. At CIG I am creating cg characters for their upcoming game Star Citizen.
I have spent 2015 and 2016 freelancing at different companies in the LA area. Before that I was staff at Blur Studio. At Blur, I was a Lead Character Artist and Character Technical Supervisor. I was employed there for over seven years, from June 2007 to January 2015.
My responsibilities there were:
Supervisory: performance reviews for the character team, managing any changes to the character modeling pipeline, testing out new tools and techniques, being involved with the hiring of new character artists.
Lead: artistic notes and paint overs, making sure character styles are consistent per project, asset organization & quality checks, final in-scene character polish, and generally working to solve any artistic, technical and team problems that may arise on a given project.
Artistic: create main characters for cinematic and film projects, poly model, sculpt, texture, shade, render, facial expression morphs/shapes, and style hair for the characters.
Outside of work and cg art, I enjoy binge watching TV shows, the LA Opera, cats, single malts, and Street Fighter.
